چکیده
A combination of stresses as it occurs on the field poses more challenges to crop production than individual stress. Crops’ response single stress also differs from that combined stresses. The morpho-physiological responses two cowpea varieties (IT89KD-288 and IT99K573-1-1) a (water deficit high light intensity) were investigated at different growth stages. Three levels intensities (L3: 259 Lux- 36%, L2: 394 Lux-55% L1: 710.2 Lux-100%) imposed using one, zero layer(s) net, respectively, while, water four (W1: no stress; 0-5 bars, W2: moderate 5-15 W3: moderately-severe; 15-40 bars W4: severe 40 -70 bars) was differently vegetative reproductive Data collected yield, Leaf Temperature (LT), Chlorophyll (C), Photosynthesis (P), Stomatal Conductance (SC) Canopy Transpiration Rate (CTR). Exposure W4 under L1 considerably reduced yield by 80% compared those grown L3 full watering. Reduced intensity enhanced grain irrespective IT89KD-288 superior IT99K573-1-1. Reduction in increased SC 55.18 76.88 36 % L3. Full without (100% intensity), C content, while content CTR. was, however, low 100% intensity. It observed stage did not affect P, CTR unlike stage. In conclusion, tolerance yield. Cowpea dependent stage, variety severity

Physiological and morphological responses of rice (Oryza sativa L.) to varying water stress management strategies
Sustainability of rice production under limited water conditions is threatened by increasing irrigation water scarcity. Therefore, physiological and morphological responses of rice to varying water stress management strategies should be determined. The physiological and morphological responses of a semi dwarf rice (Hashemi cultivar) to water stress intensities (mild and severe, i.e., short-dura...
متن کاملMaize (Zea mays L.) Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer under Drought Stress at Vegetative and Reproductive Stages
In the sub-tropics, water and nitrogen are the most important factors limiting the grain yield of maize. The effect of nitrogen (N) rates and drought stress at different growth stages of maize were investigated. Nitrogen treatments consisted of 100, 150, and 200 kgN.ha-1 from the urea source while water stress treatments were composed of irrigation-off since the early 10-leaf stage to emergenc...
متن کاملPhysiological and biochemical responses of Quercus brantii seedlings to water deficit stress
Water shortage is one of the most important environmental stresses in Mediterranean regions. Poor seedling quality may account for the failure of oak regeneration. To determine the best seed origin of Quercus brantii, we investigated on seedlings collected from 20 mother trees in the Zagros Mountain forests 700 to 2200 m altitudes above sea level. Seedlings from different altitudes were irrig...
متن کاملEffects of Superabsorbents on Growth and Physiological Responses of Date Palm Seedling under Water Deficit Conditions
Irrigation is an inevitable part of agriculture which determines crop yield and thus food security. In modern era of agriculture, crop yield is determined on the basis of crop production per unit of water-use instead of crop production per land unit area. Deficit irrigation is introduced as a strategy for controlling water resources that leads to water resource preservation. Date palm requires...
متن کاملEvaluation of Physiological Responses of Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) to Water Deficit Stress
Water stress is one of the main factors of severe damage and limitation of plant production in Iran. The paper reports a pot experiment conducted by using a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications (each replication composed of four pots) to compare the physiological and biochemical characteristics of two varieties of tuberose (double- and single-flow...
